Tally pricing, checked: what the free form builder includes, the fair use limits, Pro and Business monthly vs yearly, and the no-refund rule

Last updated 2026-10-05 · By Smart Pick Desk editors · Prices read on Tally's pricing page with Pay monthly and with Pay yearly selected on 2026-10-05; help centre read the same day · We have not used Tally · How we checked ↓

The short answer

Tally is an online form builder: you make sign-up forms, surveys, order forms and quizzes, share a link or embed them on your site, and collect the answers. Its free plan is the main product, with unlimited forms and submissions. The two paid plans add business features: Pro is $29 a month billed monthly and Business $89; billed yearly, the pricing page shows $24 and $74 a month.

  • Free: unlimited forms and submissions, payments, signatures, file uploads, logic and integrations, within a fair use policy.[1][5]

    See Tally's own pricing page

  • Pro, $29 a month: removes Tally branding, adds custom domains, team members, partial submissions, custom CSS and analytics tools.[1][3]
  • Business, $89 a month: everything in Pro, plus automatic deletion of old submissions, email verification and a longer version history.[1][4]

If you want one sentence: for most forms the free plan is enough; you pay to take Tally's name off your forms and use your own domain, and once you pay there is no trial before and no refund after.

Tally's pricing page, read on 2026-10-05 with Pay monthly selected and with Pay yearly selected,[1] and the help pages for Pro and Business.[3][4]

The pricing page opens with the line “Build beautiful forms for free” and puts a label next to the yearly switch that reads “2 months off”.[1] The help centre's overview describes the split this way: “99% of Tally's features are available to all users for free and without limits as long as you stay within our fair usage guidelines.”[2]

How we checked this (and what we did not check)

Last updated 2026-10-05 (first version). Every number and quotation here comes from Tally's own pages. Prices change — confirm on Tally's own page before you sign up.

What we did. On 2026-10-05 we opened tally.so/pricing in a browser with no account, saved the page text, then pressed Pay monthly and Pay yearly and saved the visible text each time. The same day we saved six help-centre pages: plans and pricing, Tally Pro, Tally Business, the fair use policy, billing and payment information, and the refund policy. Wording in quotation marks is copied from those saved pages word for word, and a script checks every quotation against the saved text.

What we did not do. We have not used Tally. There is no account, no screenshot of the product and no view here on how well its editor or integrations work. Every image is a chart or summary we drew from the saved text; none shows Tally's logo or screens. The answers in the pricing page's question section are collapsed and we did not open them. We did not read the education and non-profit discount pages. Tally's billing page says the currency depends on where you are; we were shown US dollars.

What that leaves. The free plan and its limits, Pro and Business in both billing modes, and the billing, cancellation and refund rules, as published.

What the free plan includes

Most form builders put submissions behind a paywall. Tally's pricing page says the opposite: “Tally gives you unlimited forms and submissions, completely free, as long as you stay within our” fair usage guidelines.[1]

Two panels on Tally. Free: unlimited forms and submissions, collect payments, signatures and file uploads, conditional logic and calculations, custom thank-you page, redirect on completion, password protection, Google Sheets, Notion, Airtable, Zapier and webhooks. Paid: remove Tally branding, custom domains, team members and workspaces, partial submissions, custom CSS, uploads above 10 MB, analytics and version history.

The feature lists on the pricing page[1] and the Pro and Business help pages.[3][4]

The free list on the pricing page also includes a custom “Thank You” page, self email notifications, redirect on completion, preventing duplicate submissions, password-protected forms, closing a form at a limit or date, and more than 45 languages.[1] For a newsletter sign-up form, a client intake form or an event registration, nothing on that list requires paying. If the form is for booking time with you, Calendly pricing, checked and Cal.com pricing, checked cover two booking tools with free plans.

The free plan does show Tally's branding on your forms; removing it is the first item on the Pro list.[1]

The fair use limits

“Unlimited” on Tally means no fixed cap, with a policy for heavy use. The policy says: “We expect the usage of most of our users to fall within the range of our free plan.”[5]

Cards of Tally's fair use examples of extensive usage: consistently 50,000 submissions a month; consistently 100 GB of file uploads a month or 500 GB stored in total; consistently 50,000 email notifications a month; sharing a Pro or Business subscription outside your organization.

Example of extensive usageLevel given by Tally
Submissions50,000 a month, consistently
File uploads100 GB a month, or 500 GB stored in total
Email notifications sent50,000 a month, consistently
Sharing a paid plan outside your organizationNot allowed

The fair use policy page.[5]

  • What consistently means. Occasional spikes are fine; the policy says that if high volumes happen for three or four months in a row, Tally will reach out about a tailored plan.[5]
  • What happens then. “When your usage surpasses our Fair Use Policy, we'll offer you a custom plan based on your past usage.” It is billed quarterly, and “The custom plan is on top of your existing subscription.”[5]
  • If you say no. Tally says it will give you time to move to another tool.[5]
  • Sharing. “Tally subscriptions are meant to be used by a single organization.” Sharing a paid plan outside it can lead to suspension.[5]

To put the submission level in proportion: 50,000 submissions a month is more than 1,600 a day, every day, for months. A newsletter sign-up form on a small site, a weekly class booking form or a customer feedback survey sits far below that. The level that a small business is more likely to reach is file storage, if every submission includes photos or documents; 500 GB stored in total is the figure to watch in that case.[5]

The fair use levels apply to paid plans as well as free: they are about volume, not about which plan you are on. The policy gives no price for the custom plan.

What Pro adds

Grid comparing Tally Pro and Business. Price billed monthly $29 and $89. Remove branding, custom domains, team members, custom CSS, partial submissions, uploads above 10 MB: both. Version history 30 days on Pro and 90 days on Business. Data retention control and email verification: Business only.

The Pro help page summarises the offer as “No hidden costs as long as you stay within our fair usage guidelines.” and lists the price as “$29/month or $290/year (get 2 months free)”.[3]

  • Your brand. Remove Tally branding, connect a custom domain or subdomain, send email notifications from your own domain, change the link preview image and title.[1][3]
  • Your team. “Invite unlimited team members to your organization.” Workspaces and folders control who can see which forms.[3]
  • Design. Advanced customization and custom CSS for full control of how forms look.[1][3]
  • Data. Partial submissions (answers from people who did not finish), drop-off analytics, visit analytics, Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel.[1]
  • Files and history. “Remove the 10 MB file size limit on all file uploads.” Form versions can be restored for 30 days.[3]

Two of the Pro features change what you learn from a form rather than how it looks. Partial submissions keep the answers of people who started but did not press submit, and drop-off analytics show at which question people leave.[1] For a long application or order form, that is the information that tells you which question to cut. The Google Analytics and Meta Pixel connections matter only if you advertise the form and want to measure it in those tools.[1]

In everyday terms: Pro is for when the form is part of your business identity — on your domain, without another company's name — or when more than one person works on the forms.

What Business adds

Business costs about three times as much as Pro on monthly billing and adds a short list of features aimed at organisations with data rules to follow.[1][4]

  • Price. “$89/month or $890/year (get 2 months free)”, with all Pro features included.[4]
  • Data retention. “Automatically delete form submissions after a set period to comply with privacy frameworks.”[4]
  • Email verification. Respondents confirm their email address, so the list of addresses you collect is more reliable.[4]
  • Version history. 90 days instead of 30.[1][4]
  • Still growing. The pricing page says “We are working on more Business features. Stay tuned!”[1]

Data retention control is the kind of feature a privacy policy or a client contract asks for: it deletes submissions after a period you set, instead of relying on someone to remember. Email verification is useful when the form feeds a mailing list or a sales process and false addresses cost time.[4]

If none of those three features is a requirement for you, Business adds $60 a month over Pro on monthly billing without changing what most forms can do, by our arithmetic.

Monthly or yearly

Yearly billing is lower on both plans. The billing page puts it as “Yearly billing gives you 17% off — equal to 2 months free.”[6]

Bar chart comparing twelve monthly payments with one year billed yearly on Tally: Pro $348 vs $290, Business $1,068 vs $890, using the yearly prices on Tally's help pages.

PlanMonthly price12 monthly paymentsBilled yearly (help page)Less over a year
Pro$29$348$290$58
Business$89$1,068$890$178

Monthly prices from the pricing page;[1] yearly prices from the Pro and Business help pages;[3][4] the 12-month column and the difference are our arithmetic.

  • When you are charged. “You’re charged upfront for the month or year you're about to spend on your chosen plan.” Renewal is on the same date each month or year.[6]
  • The pricing page's figure. With Pay yearly selected, the page shows $24 a month for Pro and $74 for Business.[1] Twelve of those make $288 and $888, slightly below the yearly prices on the help pages. The section on disagreements has the details.

Because there are no refunds (below), yearly billing means committing the whole year at the start. Paying monthly for the first month or two costs $5 a month more on Pro by the pricing page's figures, and keeps the commitment to one month.

Currency, payment and invoices

  • Currency. “You will be billed in USD or EUR, based on your IP location.” The billing page suggests checking the pricing page to see which applies to you.[6]
  • Payment method. Paid plans are bought with a credit card, including prepaid cards.[6]
  • Company details. If you buy as a business, you can add company details during the upgrade.[6]
  • Invoices cannot be changed. “We cannot amend issued invoices.” The page advises entering billing details correctly before subscribing.[6]
  • Discounts. The overview lists separate pages for education and non-profits, and says: “Instead of traditional discounts, we focus on building free features and competitively priced premium options.”[2]

Collecting payments in your own forms is a free-plan feature.[1] The pages we read do not say whether Tally adds its own fee on those payments; payment processors charge their own fees, which are not on Tally's pricing page.

Upgrading and cancelling

Flow of Tally's billing rules: pay upfront for the month or year; renewal on the same date; upgrading from Pro to Business mid-period takes effect immediately with a prorated credit; cancelling takes effect at once but paid features stay until the end of the prepaid period; no refunds for late cancellations or unused time.

  • Upgrading. From Pro to Business mid-period: “The new plan will take effect immediately and you will be charged immediately for the new plan.” The charge is reduced by a prorated credit for the time left on Pro, and the billing date stays the same.[6]
  • Cancelling. You cancel in Settings under Billing. “Your cancellation will be effective immediately, and access to Tally Pro or Business features will stop at the end of the prepaid period”.[6]
  • After a paid plan ends. The pages we read do not describe a separate step back to the free plan; since the free plan is where every account starts, we read cancelling as returning to it, but Tally's pages do not say so in those words.

No trial and no refunds

Two rules make the first payment the one to think about.

Two panels on Tally. No free trial of paid plans: the billing page says Tally does not offer free trials; the free plan is the way to try the form builder. No refunds: Tally has a no-refund policy, including for failure to cancel before renewal, claims of unused time, change of mind and testing paid features; refunds only if a technical issue stops you using the service for a prolonged period.

  • No trial. “We don’t offer free trials but are happy to answer any questions about Tally Pro or Tally Business.”[6]
  • No refunds. The refund page says Tally has “a no-refund policy” and lists reasons it does not refund: failure to cancel before renewal, claims of unused time, change of mind and testing of paid features.[7]
  • The exception. “We only provide refunds in the event that you are unable to use or access our service for a prolonged period as a result of a technical issue.”[7]
  • The billing page agrees. “We don’t issue refunds for late cancellations or unused time.”[6]

Put together: build and test your form on the free plan first, then pay when you know which paid feature you need. Because the free plan already includes almost everything, the cases where you cannot test before paying are mostly the paid features themselves, such as the custom domain.

Where Tally's pages disagree

Two panels on Tally. The yearly price: the pricing page shows Pro at $24 and Business at $74 a month billed yearly, which is $288 and $888 a year by our arithmetic; the help pages say $290 and $890 a year. The size of the saving: the pricing page says 2 months off, the billing page says 17% off, equal to 2 months free.

  • The yearly price. The pricing page shows $24 and $74 a month on yearly billing; the help pages print $290 and $890 a year.[1][3][4] By our arithmetic the help pages' yearly prices work out to just over $24 and $74 a month, so the pricing page's figures look rounded down. We used the help pages' yearly prices in the twelve-month table because they are printed as yearly totals.
  • The size of the saving. “2 months off” on the pricing page and “17% off — equal to 2 months free” on the billing page.[1][6] Two months out of twelve is 16.7%; the $58 saving on Pro is 16.7% of $348, by our arithmetic.

We have not asked Tally about these.
