Pets: courses and products for pet owners

Last updated 2026-10-03 · By Smart Pick Desk editors · How we check

This section covers products for pet owners sold online, starting with dog training courses. Like the products in our Home & DIY section, they are usually sold from a single long sales page and paid for through a separate company, and the page may promise results that no one can check from the outside. That makes three questions worth answering before you pay: what the payment buys, which refund terms apply, and what you can try or check for yourself first.

Each guide here answers those questions from what the seller and the payment company publish, read on a stated date, and from independent pages where they help you check a claim, such as the public directory of the body that issues a trainer’s credential. We have not bought or used the products in this section, and each guide says so in the line under its title. We do not repeat customer quotes, endorsements or crossed-out prices from sales pages, because we cannot check them.

We are not dog trainers or vets, and nothing in this section is advice about your pet’s behavior or health. Where a guide touches on biting or aggression, it points you to your vet and a qualified professional first, as the ASPCA advises.

Every guide lists its sources with the date each page was read and keeps a change log at the bottom. How the facts are collected is described on How we check. Looking for something else? Home & DIY covers plans and projects for building at home, and Comparisons covers tools for running a newsletter or a small online business.
